Energy Assessments & F-GAS

Time is running out !!!!

From 4th January 2011 all Air Conditioning Systems with a total cumulative output of 12Kw or over are legally required to commission and hold a valid Energy certificate and registration to the Land Mark Register.

As soon as you place an order with Eco Climate Control Ltd Kent to provide this service we will enter an "In Progress" application onto the Land Mark Register and as such you will avoid any fines for non compliance. (valid for six months)

F Gas regulations

The use of Virgin R22 gas refrigerant became illegal to use on the 1st Jan 2010.

The use of recycled/recovered R22 will be illegal to use from 31st December 2014.

Depending on the type, age and condition of the equipment, in some situations replacement technology means it may be possible to adapt systems to use legally permitted HFC's. Eco Climate Control Ltd will be pleased to advise you on this and we offer a free no obligation survey in this respect.

Does your site have an up to date F Gas register?

As part of the new EPBD (European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) it is a statutory requirement to hold a copy on site for all equipment that contains HFC's Air Conditioning Energy Assessments.

* From 4th January 2011 it will be a legal requirement to hold a valid Air Conditioning Energy Assessment report for all system of 12Kw and over.

* Penalties for failure to hold a valid Air Conditioning Energy Assessment Report is currently set at £300 per unit per day.

* Assessments can highlight "quick fix" energy saving opportunities that will reduce your carbon footprint and save ££'s on energy bills.

The Legislation (England & Wales)

In response to the EPBD (European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) the following legislation has now come into effect:-

All commercial premises with a cumulative effective rated output of greater than 250Kw will require an energy assessment report for the system by 4th January 2009.

All commercial premises with a cumulative effective rated output of greater than 12Kw you must be in possession of an air conditioning assessment report for the system by 4th January 2011.

Air conditioning systems first put into service on or after 1st January 2008 must have their first inspection completed within 5 years of the original date they were first put into service.

Air Conditioning Energy Assessments (What are they) An Air Conditioning Energy Assessment Report (TM44) allows your organisation to comply with European Directive legislation coming into force within the United Kingdom. The air conditioning assessment itself is also being recognised as an excellent tool to help recognise energy and money saving opportunities. The initial cost of the air conditioning energy assessment is often covered in just a few weeks when simple low cost measures are identified and implemented.

The aims of the inspection are to:

- Provide building owners/operators with information about system performance, and general operation of existing systems.

- Identify opportunities to reduce your CO2 emissions and save energy and ultimately money.

The output of the inspection will be a TM44 air conditioning report and registry onto the national government land mark register. The TM44 inspection will highlight measures which, if adopted, will have the potential to save energy and money within a reasonable payback period. Air Con Inspection reports will remain valid for five years, after which the air conditioning system will require another TM44 inspection. If at any time during the 5 year inspection report period the system is changed or modified a new assessment will need to be carried out and filed.
